Mission

The Education Consortium of Central Los Angeles (ECCLA) has a mission to provide enriched educational opportunities for students in the greater Exposition/University Park area in Central Los Angeles. More than 60 public and parochial schools in this area are served by ECCLA.

ECCLA is a unique organization. No other group in the area brings together local resources – individuals and organizations dedicated to working in partnership – to address the
challenges faced by local students seeking quality education.

ECCLA makes a significant difference in the educational environment of Central Los Angeles. Over the years, ECCLA has designed, facilitated, and implemented activities, programs and research projects that have had a significant and positive impact on the formal and informal learning environment of the underserved student population of Central Los Angeles.

A goal of ECCLA is to secure additional resources to form new partnerships within its service area that will result in new programs and projects designed to benefit the students in the target area that the institutions serve.

ECCLA is a powerful network for change in Central Los Angeles. Going forward, this change will result as much from the partnerships and linkages established by ECCLA as it will from the programs that ECCLA directly provides to the community. These partnerships will enable the institutions themselves to create new initiatives, using Central Los Angeles as a laboratory for creative approaches to long-term challenges.

The founding vision for ECCLA – that of a network of resources for Central Los Angeles students, teachers, and administrators – remains valid. It is this vision that provides ECCLA with its greatest strength, which is the greatest benefit for the children and families it serves.
